Thank you, Gottfried. The time you PLAN to waste is not wasted time. The opposite of “distraction” is not focus, it is traction. I never said I advocate for constant focus. Sometimes we need to let our minds wander. Thankfully, you can plan ahead for that too! Traction is anything you plan to do with intent while distraction is anything else.

I think you may be referencing “diversion” rather than distraction. A diversion of attention is perfectly fine if it’s what you planned to do with your time. I would argue, however, that distraction is never helpful.
